Chanhassen City Council Votes To Indefinitely Delay Paisley Park Reopening
We're sure at least some of you were on your way to Prince's Paisley Park this morning. Today the late icon's home-studio-rehearsal-space-turned museum was slated to open its doors and let the purple patrons of the world explore its mythical treasures. The TODAY Show had the jump, planning an Al Roker-led tour of the compound to coincide with the museum's opening Thursday morning.
Unfortunately The Chanhassen City Council has other plans, and they're hardly favorable.
According to Star Tribune, City Council voted to shelf a zoning request action that would allow for Paisley Park to reopen as a museum this week, citing fears of the city becoming a hotspot for tourists; an odd walk-balk after a unanimous September 20th vote by the city's planning commission (and despite the fact that Paisley Park had already been just that for years; basically the sole driving force for tourism in Chanhassen.) The City Council has not yet revealed what the timeline for reopening will be, if there is one at all. Needless to say, we feel for all of you that might have made the trip only to be turned down just days ahead of what would have been the official reopening. Just know this: Paisley Park is in your heart...and it will remain there until further notice. Keep your eyes on us for updates in the near future (hopefully.)
If you did happen to make the trip and are scheming for things to do, it's time to hit the black market for tickets to the family's all-star tribute.
