Childish Gambino & Jhené Aiko Star In The Eerie Clip For "Telegraph Ave"
Childish Gambino lets loose another head-scratcher with the drop of a spooked-out treatment for "Telegraph Ave" off 2013's sleeper Because The Internet LP. Hiro Muraisculptshis second eye-grabbing clip in just as many weeks (see FlyLo's "Never Catch Me" video for another trip) in a cinematic romp of Hawaii that finds Bino and wifey Jhene Aikorocking side-by-side, doing some pretty standard touristy things in the island getaway. While you're flooded with the atmospheric 90s-tinged r&b styling of this standout cut from his sophomore LP, there's an understated eeriness that seeps into the fold, eventually manifesting as a sci-fi scheme that's wholly reminiscent of Thriller (hopefully Aiko was compensated better than Ola Ray.)
While the clip does seem to have dropped oddly late, Glover has let loose some new sonics to pay homage to his ATL roots and his new-found affinity for the golden beaches of Hawaii in the double-edged STN MTN/kauai release, which featured some BTI-worthy cuts in the glistening lead-off single "Sober" and his Neptunes-certified follow-up "The Palisades." STN MTN is available for free, but if you want the full clip you'll have to cop the kauai EP on iTunes. Watch the video for Childish Gambino's "Telegraph Ave" below.
