Will Chris Brown & Usher Square up in the Next 'Verzuz' Battle?
The R&B stars were the topic of discussion throughout the entire weekend on social media.
Over the weekend, R&B fans were up in arms about the possibility of a Verzuz battle between Usher and Chris Brown.
For the past few months, the battles have become joyful experiences as music lovers, entertainers and artists alike have been quarantining in their homes. Most recently, Snoop Dogg and DMX battled on Instagram Live and shared their most impactful hits and features.
Fans were sharing their takes on Usher and Chris Brown for nearly the entire day on Saturday over on Twitter. What stood out amongst the hundreds of tweets was that Usher’s catalog which includes My Way, 8701 and Confessions is supreme in comparison to Brown’s wildly popular singles. Quite a few fans feel that Confessions is Usher’s most popular album.
One point worth mentioning is that there is a clear generational difference in their music content. This divide is shown in the content on tracks like “Confessions” and “My Boo” in comparison to the largely streamed singles “No Guidance,” “Fine China” and “Privacy.” One Brown fan shared that Graffiti, for example, features quite a few tracks that have stood the test of time including “Gotta Be Your Man,” and “Take My Time” which are enjoyable listens.
After fans aired out their opinions on social media, Brown shared his thoughts and expressed he’d only battle himself. On Instagram, he wrote: “Only vs ima do is CHRIS BROWN VS CHRIS BREEZY.” On Saturday, he took things a step further and wrote the following on Instagram, “What we not gone do is CAP. I could do a vs off features alone… So I’ll humbly decline… I’m busy doing nothing.”
In the past, Brown’s name has come up quite a few times as Verzuz has become more popular. His name has come up alongside Trey Songz and even Drake. During a recent Instagram Live conversation with Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes said he agreed Chris should battle with Usher.
Busta Rhymes shared the following:
"Listen, Usher and Chris Brown got to be it man. That’s it. You asking my opinion. I’m giving it to you, big bro. I don’t want to see no Usher and Justin Timberlake. I want to see Usher and Chris Brown."
Only time will tell if Usher and Chris Brown decide Verzuz is the best place to reflect on the biggest hits of their ongoing career. At the moment, Chris is slated to release his tenth studio album Breezy.
