City Girls to Release New Music As Member JT Serves Prison Sentence
After featuring on Drake's hit song, "In My Feelings," City Girls are keeping their momentum going.
JT, one half of the rising Atlanta hip-hop duo, City Girls was recently jailed on identity theft charges, but that won't stop the group from releasing new music.
JT, born Jatavia Johnson, turned herself into authorities after being sentenced in January on fraudulent credit card charges. She was sentenced to 24 months, but is expected to serve only six.
In a new interview with Rap-Up, the group discusses their future career plans.
“When I’m gone, it’s gonna be a whole project coming out, more videos,” J.T. said, adding that she won't have any say on her image being incorporated into the visuals.

On June 30, Johnson posted on her Instagram Story confirming that she would be going to prison, writing, "Did more than I thought I could imagine in this short period of time out on bond. Now it's time for me to knock this down and come back strong forever."
She was previously out on bond before deciding to finish her incarceration sentence and is reportedly being held at Miami's Federal Detention Center. She is slated to be released from prison in March 2020.

In the interview, the duo also expressed their interest in a collaboration with Cardi B,
"Cardi opened the door for a lot of normal girls to feel like they could be rappers. I love Cardi for that,” JT said.
City Girls caught their big break when Drake featured them on "In My Feelings," the hit single from his new album Scorpion, but the Quality Control signees had already garnered attention from their 2018 project, Period.
