The artist will be releasing his debut album Slingbaum One this year, and it includes three songs — one of which features both D'Angelo and Badu.
The song is titled "Behoove," as shown on the artist's website. There are other notable names a part of the track, including Jameel Bruner (Thundercat's younger brother), Chris Dave, Justin Brown (frequent drummer for Thundercat), Keyon Harrold and Amani Fela Greene.
The other two tracks — "Strangers" and "Morphine" — features FKA Twigs, Oumou Sangaré, and Nick Hakim, and Damon Albarn, Bilal, and Syd, respectively. According to Slingbaum's website, the album is 16 minutes long.
However, there is a catch for the forthcoming album: it is only being released on vinyl.
"SLINGBAUM ONE WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN THIS PREORDER. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO OTHER PLANS TO DISTRIBUTE ELSEWHERE BEYOND THIS SHORT PRE-SALE WINDOW, WHETHER DIGITAL (STREAMING) OR PHYSICAL," a statement reads on the artist's website. "ORDERS WILL ARRIVE APPROXIMATELY MAY, 2020."
The vinyl, which is running for $40, can be purchased here.
Not much is known about the album. Badu posted on Instagram about it, referring to the project as "A Musical Horror Picture."
As Pitchfork noted, Slingbaum's song "Water Games" was featured on REVIVE Music Presents: Supreme Sonacy (Vol. 1) back in 2015.
