Check Out This Previously-Unreleased Version of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World"
The release is part of an upcoming six-track EP.
David Bowie fans are in for a treat. In honor of the late rock musician's 50th birthday, Bowie's estate is releasing a compilation of previously unheard tracks. The EP is titled Is It Any Wonder. The first selection from the EP is an unheard version of "The Man Who Sold the World." Check it out on Bowie's official YouTube channel.
In a statement. the estate revealed the session was mostly acoustic. The original song was released in 1970, and most famously covered by Nirvana on their 1993 MTV Unplugged session. In later years, Bowie reworked the track, adding synths and techno-influenced drums. In 1997, Bowie said the song exemplifies the feeling of "[being] young when you know there's a piece of yourself you haven't really put together yet."
