'Desus & Mero' Split Up After Nearly a Decade Together
Desus Nice and The Kid Mero's partnership comes to an end after nearly a decade together.
After nearly a decade as a duo, Desus & Mero have broken up, and their popular Showtime series will come to an end after four seasons.
After rumors speculated on Sunday evening, a spokeswoman for Showtime confirmed the news, telling Deadline:
“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward. Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season."
Desus also confirmed the news, sending out a note thanking the staff that worked on the show.
The final episode of the show aired on June 23. But there has long been speculation that the two weren't as close as they used to be. There were fewer episodes of the Showtime shoe, with the show going weekly rather than twice a week. And they haven't uploaded a new episode of their popular Bodega Boys podcasts in months.
On Sunday, a tweet went viral featuring tweets from both comedians confirming that their partnership was done. Fans weren't sure if the tweets were real or the two were trolling.
The two have been a duo since 2013, when they launched a weekly podcast for Complex. The two would eventually join VICELAND and launch Desus & Mero, which featured over 3oo episodes. In 2019, the two would end up on Showtime, a show that featured a number of guests from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Lil Nas X toBarack Obama to Joe Biden.
