Dev Hynes Is Recording w/ Carly Rae Jepsen Maybe?
It appears that Dev Hynes' pop-perfect stuff is in particularly high demand these days, as the Brooklyn mainstay has reportedly stepped into the studio with Miss "Call Me Maybe" herself, none other than Carly Rae Jepsen. Yesterday, Jepsen posted a photo of herself in the booth with Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid; the very songwriting duo that helped Sky Ferrera craft her edgy and notorious breakout piece "Everything Is Embarrassing." For those unfamiliar, Rechtshaid alone has credits on tracks with everyone from HAIM to Usher to Vampire Weekend, right on back to Dev and Blood Orange.
Listen, Miss Jepsen is far from an Okay-realm favorite, but if she's got the type of songwriting firepower that these two fellas provide, there very well might be something to say about the one-hit-wonder's career a few months (or years) down the line. Hynes' appearance will mark yet another collaboration with the pop princesses of the world, which already includes Britney Spears (though none of his contributions made the final cut of her album) Kylie Minogue and to the far, far left FKA twigs. And to be honest, who know what will come of the sessions or if they'll even make the final draft of the album. Time will tell, but we certainly won't. Hold tight for the latest from Hynes and Rechtshaid.
