Diana Ross & Tame Impala Link on "Turn Up the Sunshine"
On Thursday, Diana Ross and Tame Impala released their new collaboration "Turn Up the Sunshine" from soundtrack Minions: The Rise of Gru.
The long-awaited Diana Ross and Tame Impalacollaboration is here. On Thursday, the two acts dropped new single "Turn Up the Sunshine" from the soundtrack for upcoming animated film Minions: The Rise of Gru. The film is part of the Despicable Me universe, as the soundtrack will also feature Thundercat, H.E.R., Tierra Whack, Kali Uchis, RZA, Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire, St. Vincent, Gary Clark Jr., Brittany Howard, Jackson Wang, Heitor Pereira, Bleachers and BROCKHAMPTON.
The Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack largely covers hits from the '60s and '70s. Executive produced by Jack Antonoff, last week on Instagram, Antonoff hinted that more singles from the soundtrack would be released "here and there" ahead of its July 1st debut.
"Recording sessions for these were some of the most special and bizarre," Antonoff said, also teasing that he would share "stories one day."
"Turn Up the Sunshine" was recorded during sessions for Ross' 2021 comeback album Thank You, which Antonoff also co-produced.
On June 4th, Ross will co-headline the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace, marking 70 years that Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne. The lineup also includes Alicia Keys, Nile Rodgers, Sir Elton John, Craig David and more. As the concert will be held live in front of 10,000 attendees, the concert will also broadcast on BBC One and Radio 2.
Minions: The Rise of Gru and the film's accompanying soundtrack releases July 1st.
