No, Eminem Didn't Break a Guiness World Record on "Godzilla"
Eminem's latest hit, "Godzilla," doesn't hold a record...yet.
Last Friday, Eminem released his 11th studio album, Music to Be Murdered By, with no preceding promotion. Social media quickly responded, with praise and scorn alike. In the following days, however, outlets began reporting a particular achievement regarding the track "Godzilla." The track, which is the most popular song from the album, features a posthumous appearance from Juice WRLD.
Towards the end of the third verse, Eminem reportedly raps 229 words in just 30 seconds. According to Genius:
His speed run through the end of his third verse on “Godzilla” clocks in at around 31 seconds, during which he raps 224 words containing 330 total syllables. This comes in at 10.65 syllables per second and 7.23 words per second:
On the track, he outpaces his effort on Nicki Minaj’s 2018 track “Majesty" and his 2013 cut "Rap God."

Since the song's release, multiple outlets started to report that this verse broke a Guinness World Record. Presumably, the record would be for the fastest rap song and/or verse. However, the outlets didn't exactly specify which record.
We reached out to Guinness Book of World Records to confirm the news if Eminem broke the record for fastest rapping on a song. North American public relations manager Rachel Gluck told us that these reports were just a tad premature.
"After researching within our database," she wrote in an email, "I can confirm that Guinness World Records does not currently monitor any record-titles similar to this one."
The Guinness Book of World Records has covered rap-related records over the years. In its 1993 edition, the book famously listed Chicago MC Twista as the World's Fastest Rapper. He rapped 598 syllables in 55 seconds to earn the honor.
Eminem still holds the record for the most words in a hit single, however. "Rap God" holds 1,560 words.
