Diddy Announces Release Date for Debut Love Records R&B EP
Diddy has marked February 24 for the release date of first Love Records R&B EP, the debut label project of singer-songwriter Jozzy.
Diddy has initiated the music rollout for new record label, Love Records. The Bad Boy Entertainment founder will jumpstart his new R&B label with singer-songwriter Jozzy, whose first EP, Songs For Women, Free Game For N****, is due February 24.
“Jozzy is a very special and dynamic talent that only comes around once in a generation, so I’m excited to see how her music sets a new standard for R&B," Diddy, legal name Sean Combs, said about his new act in a statement. "Her skills as a writer and performer, matched with her style and energy has the potential to make her one of the greats and I’m proud to play a part in shaping the next chapter of her career.”
Jozzy has co-written numerous songs for contemporary R&B artists, including Summer Walker ("Throw It Away"), Beyoncé ("Virgo's Groove"), DaniLeigh ("Lil Bebe") and multiple songs from Mary J. Blige's recent album, Good Morning Gorgeous, including "Come See About Me" and "On Top." The 32-year-old artist, legal name Jocelyn Donald was introduced by Combs during last year's Billboard Music Awards, where Diddy expressed that she reminded him of The Notorious B.I.G.
Love Records was established last year, where Combs broke down his "R&B is dead" message.
“I feel like R&B was abandoned and it’s a part of our African American culture," he said in a press statement for the label. “I’m not signing any artists. Because if you know better, you do better. I’m doing 50–50 partnerships with pure transparency.”
