Diddy Adds to the Pre-Election Madness With New Black Party
Diddy broke the confusing news on Twitter.
With Kanye West campaigning for president and Ice Cube suggesting policies for Donald Trump, this election season is somehow twice as chaotic as the last. On Friday morning, Diddy added fuel to the already-raging fire.
He started his announcement making one thing clear. "The number one priority is to get Trump out of office," he said. "He has to go. We can't allow this man to continue to try and divide us. The people that have the most responsibility and should be scared to death of this man are white people. We are on the verge of a race war."
Diddy recalled his comments from earlier this year, when he called on Black voters to "hold their votes hostage." He then announced he was launching Our Black Party, a bipartisan party founded with a group of elected officials and activists. The group's national co-chair is Candace Hollingsworth, mayor of Hyattsville, Maryland. Wes Bellamy, the former vice-mayor of Charlottesville, Virginia is the other co-chair. Attorney Stephanie Morales of Portsmouth, Virginia, the Honorable Lea Webb of Binghamton, New York, and Rashaad Lambert make up the rest of the staff.
"It would be irresponsible of me to have us hold our vote hostage," he continued. "But it would also be irresponsible of me to let this moment go by and not make sure going forward we are doing what it takes to own our politics."
Diddy insists his current priority is to get Joe Biden elected, then focus on holding him accountable. Stay tuned for further updates on Our Black Party.
