"I Will Hold the Vote Hostage If I Have To": Diddy Speaks on the 2020 Election
Diddy joined Naomi Campbell to speak about the upcoming election.
On Tuesday, media mogul, producer, and political activist Diddy opened up about the upcoming 2020 general election. He joined Naomi Campbell's "No Filter With Naomi" to elaborate on a politically-charged tweet he posted on Tuesday.
"THE BLACK VOTE WILL NOT BE FREE THIS YEAR," he exclaimed.
Hours later, he followed up. "We're going to have to see some promises," he said. "What are we getting in return for our vote? Nothing has changed for Black America. In order for us to vote for [Joe Biden], we can't be taken for granted like we always are because we're supposed to be Democrats or because people are afraid of Trump."
16 years ago, he launched his famous "Vote or Die" campaign with Citizen Change to raise voter registration. This time around, he seems to be focusing on the candidates.
"It's business at this point," he said. "We can't trick politicians. So we want to know very clearly--just like Trump made it clear that he wanted to build a wall--Biden needs to make it clear that he wants to change the lives and quality of life for Black and brown people or he won't get the vote. I will hold the vote hostage if I have to."
The Democratic National Convention takes place from Monday, August 17 to Thursday, August 20.
