DJ Eclipse Shows Off 30k Record Collection on Crate Diggers + Halftime Show 15 Year Anniversary
Crate Diggers has to be one of my favorite video series going. Few things are more telling about a musically inclined person than their record collection. For their latest episode, we get a look into DJ Eclipse's stash, which holds about 30, 000 records. The DJ/producer/radio host has been a long standing pillar in the NYC underground hip-hop scene, and as you'd expect, his collection includes some very rare hip-hop vinyl, including Natural Elements, Street Smartz, Mad Lion, and more. Eclipse talks about his mother's influence on his digging addiction, what got record collecting started for most hip-hop heads, the role Fat Beats played in the hip-hop digging game, and one of the things that always amazes me about these vids; how Eclipse organizes his collection. NYC: While we're talking about DJ Eclipse, him and his radio partner DJ Riz will be throwing The Halftime Show 15th Anniversary party tonight at Le Poisson Rouge. The night will also feature DJ Premier and Stretch Armstrong (tickets here). Below, you can also find a mini doc chronicling 15 years of the show.
