DJ Khaled Takes a Shot at Tyler, The Creator After Coming in Second to 'IGOR'
That "mysterious shit" stays winning.
DJ Khaled dropped the positivity and inspirational quotes this week when his new album failed to take the No. 1 slot from Tyler, The Creator's IGOR on the Billboard 200 chart.
According to Page Six, when Khaled's elaborate (and expensive) rollout for Father of Asahd amounted to a No. 2 debut, he stormed the Epic Records office with a crew, spewing "nasty stuff" as he blamed label execs for landing runner-up instead of his typical top-of-the-pops premiere.
And per Stereogum, a since-deleted screed on Instagram (see below,) low-key targeted the Odd Future co-founder and his "mysterious" new project: "I make albums so people can play it and you actually hear it. You know, driving your car, you hear another car playing it. You know, go to the barbershop, you hear them playing it. You know, turn the radio on, and you hear them playing it. It’s called great music. It’s called albums that you actually hear the songs. Not no mysterious shit that you never hear it.”

Khaled's Father of Asahd featured his typical assembly of marquee names and butchered updates of songs we loved only 10-15 years ago. The album's lead single, "Just Us," wrangled SZA for a downgraded version of OutKast's "Ms. Jackson."
This week's Billboard count finds Billie Ellish taking the top spot and IGOR dropping to No. 3 with Father of Asahd remaining in its previous position. Keep an eye out for a grown-ass man shaking his fist at the sky over losing to a 17-year-old.
