Doja Cat Is A Man-Eater in Her Twisted "Streets" Music Video
In the video, starring Kofi Siriboe, Doja Cat ventures into alternate universes before she lands back into reality. The clip arrives ahead of her 2021 Grammy performance.
Everyone’s Monday blues were alleviated when Doja Cat unveiled the sexy, twisted visual for her single “Streets.”
If you were wondering if she has any creative limitations, the video proves she absolutely does not. The clip begins with a glimpse of heartthrob Kofi Siriboe in a taxi stuck in traffic sheepishly glancing out of his window. Doja Cat appears in the window of a shop and immediately begins reenacting the #SilhouetteChallenge.
What happens next might throw you for a loop, she then swaps into a few different universes. In one aesthetically pleasing scene, she traps Kofi as if she's a spider while wearing a Mugler look fresh off the runway. In another, she dances atop an apocalyptic vehicle and conjures zombies only to center Kofi yet again. One freaky segment of the video features Doja in a Midwest home that’s a front for a nuclear testing site next to a mannequin version of Siriboe, she’s dressed like a ‘60s housewife here. As soon as we adjust to this scene, a bomb is set off.
All of these scenes are figments of Kofi’s active imagination as he’s actually been waiting for traffic to clear up. Doja forces him back into reality at the end of the video as she was the passenger in his cab.
Fans were up in arms last night on Twitter as soon as the video dropped at midnight. Below we shared a few of our favorite tweets.
The monumental visual was a tease to prepare the singer/rapper’s fanbase for her upcoming Grammy performance. Doja Cat will be gracing the stage on March 14 on CBS and Paramount+, the show is going live at 8:00 pm ET. Other performers for the big night include Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Roddy Rich, Lil Baby, and DaBaby.
Most recently, we were obsessed with Doja’s verse on Ariana Grande’s “34+35 (Remix)” alongside Megan Thee Stallion. The video was perfect, it wasn’t raunchy at all and we love that for our queens.
