Hmm: Doja Cat Teases Curiously-Titled Second Single "N.A.S."
Doja Cat has previously previewed the track on Instagram.
It's been a chaotic last few months for Doja Cat. In addition to controversial accusations regarding her involvement in racial chat rooms, the singer also tested positive for COVID-19. In the fallout from the chat room incident, Nas took a jab at her on his latest single "Ultra Black." On Friday, she announced her next single is called "N.A.S."
"The song that I have coming out is called Nas," she said during an Instagram Live broadcast. "But only if you abbreviate it. It's three words. Abbreviate. Which is funny, it's kinda nice. Because that was before the fact. If you know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about."
Many are speculating the song is titled "Niggas Ain't Shit." Doja previously previewed the track on Instagram live as early as May. Stay tuned to hear the official version, and whether it addresses Nas' line from "Ultra Black." Doja has released a statement regarding the scandal.
"I want to address what's happening on Twitter," she wrote. "I've used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn't have been on some of those chat rooms sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I'm sorry to everyone that I offended."
The track would follow the success of Doja's "Say So (Remix)" featuring Nicki Minaj. The track was reportedly the first female rap collaboration to reach the No. 1 spot on Billboard. In conjunction with Megan thee Stallion's "Savage (Remix)," the two songs made history as the first time four Black women held the top two spots on the charts.
