Donald Glover and the Rest of 'Community's Cast Are Ready to Shoot A Movie
Glover confirmed the news during a Community virtual table read.
Fans of Community have good news to look forward to. On Monday, the show's cast streamed a virtual table read. After they read the Season 5 episode "Cooperative Polygraphy," they hosted a Q&A session.
During the session, Donald Glover confirmed he'd be on board with a Community movie. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, Glover's FX series Atlanta, and other film obligations, it might take a while.
In the past, Joel McHale has suggested that Glover may be too busy to be involved. The demand for a movie is only increasing after Netflix added the show to its library in April.
"Watching it now, I'm like, 'Oh, this show's really punk," Glover said. "Really subversive and like kind of punk. We had so much fun and now I'm like, 'I want to watch this show again like it was brand new."
The table read was a benefit for Frontline Foods and Jose Andres' World Central Kitchen. The two groups are working to aid frontline responders and vulnerable communities amidst the pandemic.
The phrase "six seasons and a movie" became a running joke in the show. In 2011, fans used the phrase as a rallying cry when NBC removed the show from its midseason schedule. Fans launched a campaign on social media, and even created a flash mob outside of NBC's Rockefeller Center in New York City to "Occupy NBC."
The show went on to run for six seasons, with the last airing on Yahoo! Screen in 2015.
