Donald Trump Will Not Apologize to the Central Park 5: "They Admitted Their Guilt"
Trump has not budged on Central Park 5.
In 1989, Donald Trump took out ad space in several newspapers calling for New York City to use the death penalty, against the Central Park 5. The teens — Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, Korey Wise, and Raymond Santana — would later be exonerated by DNA evidence and would receive a settlement from the city in 2014.
However, Trump has never taken back his comments or apologized. That stance continued on Tuesday, June 18th, President Donald Trump was asked by American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan if he apologized to the men for taking out the ads. Trump responded by saying "Why would you bring that question up now? it's an interesting time to bring it up."
The question was brought up in wake of the attention Ava Duvernay's miniseries When They See Us has gotten. Trump then said:
You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt. If you look at Linda Fairstein and if you look at some of the prosecutors, they think that the city should never have settled that case. So we'll leave it at that.

Ava responded to the statement by posting a clip from When They See Us on Twitter:
You can watch When They See Us right now on Netflix.
