Dr. Dre Addresses His Brain Aneurysm, Divorce in an Unreleased Track
Dr. Dre gets a lot off his chest in his first track since undergoing brain surgery.
The past few months haven't been all that kind to Dr. Dre. In the process of a messy divorce from his wife Nicole Young, the 55-year-old was hospitalized after suffering a brain aneurysm in early January. Shortly after undergoing surgery, he posted a picture of himself in the studio, thanking family friends and fans for the well wishes. Over the week, we got our first glimpse of what he's been working on.
In a clip streamed on Instagram Live and uploaded to YouTube, DJ Silk previewed a new Dr. Dre track featuring KXNG Crooked. On the record, Dre addresses all that and more, blaming the aneurysm on stress from the divorce.
"Trying to kill me with them lies and that perjury," he says, "ICU/I see you tryna f--k me while I’m in surgery. … You know we don’t tolerate that nonsense/By any means get your hand out of my pocket."
In the lawsuit, Nicole Young alleges Dre was physically abusive for years. On two occasions, she says he held a gun to her head and punched her in the face. She also accuses him of years of infidelity, as well as verbal and emotional abuse.
On January 6, reports surfaced that Dre had agreed to pay $2 million in spousal support from now until April 14. After that, the couple will have hearings to negotiate future support.
Stay tuned for further updates on the new track from Dr. Dre.
