Dudley Perkins x Madlib - "State Of Emergency" [Official Video]
Dudley Perkins and Madlib deliver the official video for "State Of Emergency" - another glitchy lo-fi Cali banger - from what is rumored to be their forthcoming Dr. Stokley LP. The project is reportedly in the works and slated to drop this coming winter. If you know anything about the uber-prolific Madlib and the equally adventurous Declaime, it may be safe to assume that this joint is close to being done. The Oxnard duo lead the release with the blunted studio footage directed by Chuck NVL. The clip features Dudley Perkins in full force calling negative musical figures and forces to task for dirtying up the rap game. Rocking the mic to infuse light and life back into the music, Dudley issues a series of warnings in his verse:
Take this how you have to, or don't take it at all.Our time is growing small, the writing's on the wall.
...Warrior of the light, how bloody is your fight?
Why does it take a tragedy before people unite?
We need to stop takin' life light.
The track from Dudley Perkins and Madlib arrives via Mello Music Group - a label Perkins and his partner Georgia Anne Muldrow have maintained ties with for some time - ahead of the full project.
