Electric Wire Hustle's "Look Into The Sky" Gets A Fierce House Remix From Seven Davis Jr.
Above a relentless kick drum we hear Electric Wire Hustle vocalist Mara TK's cry of "Happiness" repeat over and over. It's not a corrupted mp3 or a skipping vinyl disc but the new exuberant remix of the band's brilliant soul track "Look Into The Sky," courtesy of Seven Davis Jr. That cyclical call of glee, though, is only an introduction, as SDJ's remix opens into a seven and a half minute journey through rattling add-on drums and a revolving chop the track's later sections that must be heard to be believed. Davis Jr. has taken the fine, bright prism that was "Look Into The Sky" and smashed it to pieces, rearranged the shards and come up with something very different indeed but still flooded with color. A dancefloor number in ways we've never heard from Electric Wire Hustle's own material, this new remix is a sign of just how versatile their work has always been.
TK, bandmate Taay Ninh and the rest of their New Zealand soul-gang will be embarking on a European tour later this spring, the dates of which you can read here. The band will also be releasing their highly anticipated new effort, The Love Can Prevail Remix EP in May. Listen to Seven Davis Jr.'s house-friendly chop of "Look Into The Sky" below and get ready--the EWH boys have big plans for 2015.
