Eminem Awakens to Find Home Invader in His Detroit House
The fan smashed Eminem's kitchen window to get into the residence.
Earlier this month, Eminem received a rude awakening in his Detroit home. After an alarm went off, the Detroit MC went to his living room to find a home invader. The culprit, 26-year-old Matthew David Hughes, had used a paving stone to break a kitchen window and enter the premises.
According to a TMZ report, Hughes didn't take any property from the house. It seems he just wanted to meet face-to-face with the Grammy-winning rapper. Police quickly arrived at the home. Authorities then took Hughes into custody and charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of a building. Both charges warrant felonies in the state of Michigan.
Previous reports suggested that Eminem's security team was sleeping during the incident, but have since clarified that report was "figurative."
Hughes is still in custody at the Macomb County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Eminem has not publicly addressed the incident.
Back in January, Eminem dropped a surprise album. Music to Be Murdered By quickly shot to the top of the Billboard 200. The album was his tenth straight album to debut at number one in the United States. With its release, he became one of just six artists to release ten number-one albums.
