Activist Erica Garner Dies After Suffering Heart Attack
Erica Garner had been in a coma for a week
Erica Garner, the daughter of police brutality victim Eric Garner, has died, according to the New York Daily News.
Erica was only 27.

For a week now, Erica was fighting for her life after suffering a heart attack that was triggered by an asthma attack. On Wednesday, news came out that Erica was brain dead. However, a day after her family was still holding on to hope that she could recover.

On July 17th 2014, Eric Garner was killed after police officers, who were arresting him for selling cigarettes, put him in a chokehold. The footage of that incident quickly spread, with the phrase "I Can't Breath" — which Garner said while being choked — becoming a battle cry for civil rights activists.
After his death, Erica became an activist and a critic of police brutality.
