Erykah Badu Covers New 'Vogue' Issue
Neo-soul legend Erykah Badu covers the March issue of Vogue, where she talks her forthcoming fashion capsule with Marni.
Erykah Badu talks poignantly about her experiences in motherhood and becoming a doula in the March issue of Vogue. The neo-soul legend, 51, covers the new issue, where she gives a retrospect of her three-decade career, becoming a parent during the prime of her career and her forthcoming collection with luxury fashion company, Marni. In 2020, Badu launched her online shop Badu World Market.
While the New Amerykah artist has been a muse for designers like Thom Browne during her illustrious career, Badu admitted to Vogue that she "didn’t know all the houses and names of designers until I was in my 30s or 40s." With Marni, Badu's collection is described as “mystical instrumental wear." Also this year, the artist is expected to release a smoking accessories collection and her own strain of marijuana in collaboration with Berner.
Later in the profile, Badu discussed assisting R&B singers Summer Walker and Teyana Taylor with the birth of their children. The singer shared that her 18-year-old daughter, Puma Curry assisted in the birth of Walker's twins, which also marked Badu's first time guiding a multiple birth.
While Badu continues to tour, the artist last released mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone in 2015. In 2024, a book on Badu's last full-length album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), will be published via 333 Sound, with poet and editor Karmeryn Alexa Carter as author.
