Watch Erykah Badu Sit In w/ The Roots On The Tonight Show, Perform "Phone Down" & "Master Teacher"
The world has been abuzz with Erykah Badu sightings and hearings as of late. With her forthcoming But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape just days away, we've heard Miss Badula give Drake a run with her very own, very Badu rework of "Hotline Bling," tease even more trap&b mastery with the project's immeasurably-dope follow-up "Phone Down" and even drop by the Buzzfeed offices for a little impromptu jam with none other than Robert Glasper.
But before she jumped back out of town, Badu snuck a few crucial musical moments in with The Roots on The Tonight Show last night, dropping notes between bits with the mighty Illa Fifth. You'll hear the revamp "Phone Down" (at 5:30) and even jump back to New Amerykah with a "Master Teacher" showing (at 15:30.) And so, while we continue to celebrate the 15th year of Mama's Gun and buckle up for a fresh project, here's a perfect little warm-up for all that is still to come.
Watch Erykah Badu join The Roots in-between-the-bits on The Tonight Show down below. Just be sure to keep that ear to the ground, But You Caint Use My Phone hits the internets next Friday, November 27th.
