FBI Arrests Man for Making Death Threats Against Rep. Ilhan Omar
The Trump-supporting upstate NY resident has been charged with threatening to assault and murder a US official.
Patrick Carlineo was arrested Friday morning after calling the office of Rep. Ilhan Omar with threats of murder last month. He was charged with threatening a US official and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
According to The Daily Beast, Carlineo placed the call at 12:20pm on March 21st. Speaking with a member of Omar's staff, the upstate NY resident threatened: "Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are you working for her, she’s a fucking terrorist. I’ll put a bullet in her fucking skull." Her staff quickly reported to the incident to the FBI.
Carlineo was picked up by the Feds and immediately questioned. Initially, Carlineo denied making the threat outright. But once he was made aware of the call being recorded, Carlineo walked back his denial, claiming to be a shotgun-owning, Trump-supporting, patriot, who "hates radical Muslims in our government." Since her historic win in the 2018 midterm election, Rep. Ilhan Omar has been subject to countless threats based solely on her race and religious beliefs.
Last month, Fox News anchor, Jeannine Pirro, was disciplined by the network for stating on-air that Omar's use of a hijab was "antithetical to the US Constitution." And just this week, the president directly targeted her at a Republican Jewish Coalition event in Las Vegas, falsely stating that "she doesn't like Israel," in response to the Minnesota Democrat's critique of pro-Israel lobbying in Washington and ongoing civil rights atrocities perpetrated against Palestinians.
