First Look Friday: Wet [EP Stream + "You're The Best" Video]
Another Friday, another feature. Today's First Look is devoted to the talented and ethereal Brooklyn trio Wet, who dropped their self-titled debut EP just last month. The group is comprised of Kelly Zutrau, Joe Valle, and Marty Sulkow; a three-piece of Brooklynites that are soaking the scene with their brand of poppy minimalism (think Yeasayermeets Fleetwood Macwith the dudes The xxbehind the boards) Their freshly minted EP is another dynamite addition to the synth laden, big beat pop continuum, cementing them as one of Brooklyn's most promising up-and-comers.
The EP is drenched in soft synthetic layers, stripped down and washed-out drums and some filtered vocal treatments that put them in right into nighttime rotation (seriously, this is an album full of bedtime jams.) The group got a little love from The New York Times for their performance at last month's CMJ shenanigans, but the most recent signees to Neon Gold's ever-expanding roster of progressive pop pushers have been carving out their own place in the all-holy pop shrine. If you missed their last show of the year at NYC's Mercury Lounge last night, fear not, for they will return to their hip hub of Brooklyn to turn us out, just after setting sails for a bit of a tour. Keep your eyes and ears posted cause we'll have plenty more from these young guns soon. Until then, watch the visuals for Wet's single "You're The Best" and stream their debut EP below to get familiar.
