Flying Lotus x Kendrick Lamar - "Never Catch Me" [CDQ]
UPDATE: You can now stream Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar's dynamite collabo "Never Catch Me" in drop-free CD quality below.
It's here. Flying Lotus' frantic new number "Never Catch Me" has finally arrived with some exemplary words from Kendrick Lamar. The long dreamed-of and then realized collaboration finds K. Dot delivering a torrent of high-voltage verbal over a hard bop fusion type of jawn that's piano-heavy and shuffles supremely, perfectly executed by the eccentric beatsmith with a hint of that machine-gun madness thrown into the mix. Oh, and there are traces of Thundercat on this thing. You just have to tune into that low-end theory.
The frenzied frequencies were premiered last night on Power 106 and brought to the masses by The LA Leakers. It jumps off FlyLo's anxiously anticipated forthcoming You're Dead! LP, which was just announced earlier this month along with a laundry list of helpful hands to be featured, including Herbie Hancock (peep last week's drop "Moment Of Hesitation") Thundercat, the aforementioned Compton bomber, LBC champ Snoop Doggand a slew of others. See if you can keep up with the fellas and stream their dynamite collaboration "Never Catch Me" below, with or without the obnoxious horns and sirens the leakers threw on. Your pick. Preorder You're Dead! via iTunes today and hit the UK's Guardian tomorrow morning to ask the album's architect a few of your most burning inquiries.
