'Fresh Prince' Reunion Special Coming to HBO Max in September
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast will reunite on September 10.
This September will mark the 30th anniversary of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. On Monday, HBO Max announced the cast will come together to film a reunion special to air in September. The news comes on the heels of Will Smith announcing he'd be executive producing Bel-Air, a dramatic reimagining of the hit series created by Morgan Cooper, who produced a trailer for the series in 2019.
Most of the show's regulars will return for the special: Tatyana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Joseph Marcell, Karyn Parsons, and DJ Jazzy Jeff will all join Smith on screen. According to the network, the reunion will feature music, dancing, and some surprise guests. Stay tuned for further updates regarding Bel-Air as well as the reunion special.
Smith's Westbrook Media signed a deal to executive produce Cooper's series in August. Cooper and Chris Collins (writer for shows like The Wire and Sons of Anarchy) will write the series.
"When we first made this thing I was really confident in the art," Cooper told Okayplayer just last year. "The internet's the internet. You never know if something's gonna catch a spark or not. I'm very excited for everything that has happened and receive it humbly. But at the end of the day I'm a Black creative and representing my culture and expressing myself authentically is of the utmost importance to me."
