Future Drops New Album 'High Off Life' Ft. Drake, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert & More
High Off Life is the rapper's eighth studio album, it follows 2019's The Wizrd.
Future returns to drop High Off Life, his eighth solo studio album. He announced the release earlier this week on Tuesday.
It’s no secret that Future is a “toxic king,” but many of his fans have been patiently waiting for a new release. His first single of 2020 was “Life Is Good” with Drake, his last full-length album was 2019's The Wizrd.
High Off Life executive produced by DJ Esco is a summation of Future’s career up until now. The album is filled with features by Drake, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and more. In a recent interview with XXL, Future shared High Off Life explores what he sees in his life right now.
“This album right here defines me at a creative level. Going to the next level where you just going to the next level and always going outside the box, but still remaining true to my core fans and my core audience. It’s me trying new things” he said. “I want to remain true to self, but also true to my fans and just giving them a good project, a great project to be able to listen to, but also for different artists to be able to feed off of, create off of, come up with different ideas and just being at the forefront of just making a solid album, a solid, complete album.”
A few of the tracks on the albums stood out upon our first listen: “Solitaires” featuring Travis Scott, “Ridin Strikers,” “Posted With Demons,” and “All Bad” with Lil Uzi Vert. What makes “Solitaires” work is that it’s an upbeat track, honestly the sound is a bit experimental but I’m into it. “Ridin Strikers” just works, on it Future raps about hotboxing and women.
“Posted With Demons” has a certain je ne sais quoi that has always worked for the rapper. In “All Bad,” from the beginning Uzi steals the spotlight, it’s a feel-good song about women and designer pieces (we wouldn’t expect anything less).
Even though the production is exquisite, High Off Life is reminiscent of his past work. The album features toxic bars about lust-filled nights, drugs, and designer garbs all alongside his signature trap sound. This release highlights that Future is still coping with his old vices and past traumas.
