"He reminds me so much of when Bootsy first came around," Clinton said of working with FlyLo. "Thundercat, Steve and the whole crew. Kendrick Lamar, it feels so much like 1975 when Bootsy first came around and started mixing James Brown with P-Funk. The same thing is happening with Flying Lotus, and it's putting me in touch with so many new musicians. These are the new generation of funk musicians. So, its educational working with him. It's a whole new version of ourselves."
And as for Clinton's favorite songs that sample his music? Well, it's not De La Soul, who Clinton has said gave him the most money for sampling him.
"My favorite samples were with Public Enemy and Ice Cube. Hank Shocklee used samples in a way that you didn't recognize it too easily, and he created a whole new arrangement," he said. "To chop it up and make a new track out of little pieces, I thought it was always very clever the they did that."
Elsewhere in the Reddit AMA, Clinton also revealed what he has int he works before his retirement from touring next year.
"I'm doing a P-Funk All Stars album, a George Clinton solo album, another Parliament album and another Funkadelic album. Medicaid Fraud Dogg is the newest. I'm also working on musical documentary, animation and a play," the musician said.
Prior to this, Clinton had conducted another AMA where he shared a supernatural story about him and Bootsy Collins being contacted by a UFO and wanting to work with Cardi B.
