Giveon Captures the Dark & Melancholic Sides of Love in "Vanish" Video
Giveon has released a visual for “Vanish,” one of the highlights off his debut EP Take Time.
In the clip, the California-bred singer is joined by a beau at a bar where they relax and hold an intimate conversation over drinks. The moody video is filled with melancholy vibes throughout. The camera mainly captures close-up shots of Giveon's face paired with dark hues and shadows.
“You say you heard me and you wish I would vanish,” is the first line of the track and each word speaks volumes. The deep cut expresses the definitive nature of relationships once a breakup is on the horizon. Love can become marred by arguments and when both partners don’t see eye to eye, Giveon normalizes these notions throughout “Vanish.” He even touches on wanting to move from ending things to working things out with the one you love.
Nearly a month ago, the singer-songwriter appeared in a moving COLORS setwhich featured his peers in the industry. Throughout his performance, it became even clear that he's inspired by timeless singers like Frank Sinatra who has a strikingly similar baritone voice. As the months have progressed he’s kept up his momentum that began when he released Take Time in March.
Most recently, Giveon unveiled a video for “Favorite Mistake” which followed a similar theme as the “Vanish” clip. The rollout is whip-smart as it still keeps the singer at top of mind despite the looming pandemic that’s been ravaging the nation.
