Hannibal Buress Joins "Spider-Man: Homecoming" Cast

A lot of our readership was very vocal about Donald Glover joining the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, when we wrote about the announcement. Although there were plenty of you (like us) that wondered if Glover's involvement meant he'd portray other Spider-Man Miles Morales (his role is still undisclosed), many of you (like us) were just happy to hear that the multi-talented 32-year-old was finally cast in a Spider-Man movie.

Now, another great talent has been added to the cast: Hannibal Buress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the Chicago comedian joined Homecoming in an undisclosed role. Now the cast includes Buress, Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Kenneth Choi and, of course, Tom Holland.

Judging by the Spider-Man that Holland portrayed in Captain America: Civil War, Homecoming may be one of the more lighthearted iterations of Spider-Man to come to the big screen in recent years. In a new interview with The Daily Beast director Jon Watts explained that the film will have a "John Hughes sort of tone," with Peter Parker's high school days playing a bigger part than in previous Spider-Man movies. He also spoke to the diversity of the cast, too.

"Peter Parker goes to high school in Queens, and Queens is one of—if not the—most diverse places in the world. So I just wanted it to reflect what that actually looks like. It's been really fun to just look for things that none of the other Spider-Man movies have really explored before, and decide if that’s something we want to work into that."

Buress has appeared on the big screen many times this year. He reprised his role as Officer Watkins in the standout Seth Rogen comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising; starred alongside Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys; and will be in the upcoming animated comedy The Secret Life Of Pets.

And now, come 2017, we will live in a world where Buress cracks jokes in the Marvel Cinematic Universal.
