Hear Parliament's First New Song In 38 Years, "I'm Gon Make U Sick O'Me"
George Clinton has shared Parliament's first new song in decades.
Titled "I'm Got Make U Sick O'Me," the track is a slow and funk-filled bop that features a guest appearance from Geto Boys rapper Scarface and an infectious chorus from bandleader Clinton.
"I'm gonna make you sick / I'm gonna make you sick of me / Then I'm gonna give you the antidote / Something to make you feel better," Clinton sings throughout the five minute track. The song serves as the first new one from Parliament since the group dissolved in 1980 following the release of Trombipulation.
In a recent Reddit Q&A centered around the single's release, Clinton discussed both the track and the new album that it's appearing on, which is titled Medicaid Fraud Dog.
"Because the last album was Funkadelic First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate. It's Parliament's turn," Clinton wrote. "The new album is Medicaid Fraud Dog featuring the PFunk horns Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Greg Thomas and Benny Cowan. The next album will be P-Funk Allstars."
He also discussed who he has been listening to recently ("Flying Lotus, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z's new album, Tra'Zae, and all that s**t coming out of Atlanta. All that trap s**t. I'm trapped in it") as well as shared an incredibly surreal story about he and Bootsy Collins being contacted by UFOs.
"We were driving into Toronto together and were contacted by a UFO. We saw a flashing light hit the ground first in front of our car. Three of four minutes later we saw it again two times, hit the street. Then the light hit the car and the light turned to liquid like mercury from a thermometer, beaded up and rolled off the car," Clinton wrote. "All the street lights went out slowly as we passed. We looked behind us it was dark. Bootsy wasn’t scared, he thought I knew what was going on. We weren’t high, because he just crossed the border. We eventually arrived home and walked in the house and my daughter said, you all acting like you just saw a ghost! I didn’t even think about it until later, why were we seeing light in daylight. I had to call Bootsy to confirm what time of day it was. We lost a lot of time that day and didn’t realize it until years later."
