Hear Rare Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes Vocals on a Sinister Teaser For J Dilla's 'Motor City'
As far as classic hip-hop pairings are concerned, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes have long been one of history's most overlooked duo. Of course, they're also part of some of history's most highly-praised groups (A Tribe Called Quest and Leaders of The New School, respectively) but the creative connection here goes well beyond either clique's shared geography to the point of being virtually inseparable in hindsight.
And it's made for some unforgettable moments in music, dating well past Busta's more recent adoption as a fifth member of The Tribe (though he was basically that for two decades prior.) Take for instance, "For The Nasty," a sleek Pharrell-produced loosie circa 2003, instantly recalled by diehards and novices alike. But what if we told you that a version of the track exists with a sinister J Dilla production as its backbone? J Rocc has liberated precisely that in his latest teaser of the late producer's forthcoming posthumous release, Motor City, available for you to hear down below.
The full album is slated for release next Friday, April 28th, and can be pre-ordered on iTunes today. You can also head over to The Shop for a copy of the album on wax. Jump back to hear the first teaser of the album, featuring an unreleased J Dilla beat.
