Hieroglyphics — 'The Kitchen' [LP Stream] + Souls of Mischief Tour Dates
Underground hip-hop gurus Hieroglyphics just released their first joint album in a decade, and it looks (and sounds) like a great reintroduction into a landscape wherein the golden era they once dominated is experiencing some type of renaissance. For The Kitchen, the Bay Area legends linked up with Sacramento-based DJ crew Sleeprockersfor an updated but unmistakably Hiero sound. The album just dropped yesterday and they released a video for "It's Partly Me" last week, so take a minute to smooth out with the third eye visionaries and check out some of what Spin had to say below:
The timing couldn't be better, as 20th anniversaries abound. Del's classic No Need for Alarm dropped in 1993, as did Souls' enduring 93 'til Infinity. Also, the Funky one's beloved Deltron 3030 team-up with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala has officially rebooted with appearances scheduled from fans as far-ranging as Damon Albarn and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But for the time being, nothing beats hearing all of these familiar voices in the same place.
