Suge Knight Gets Sentenced to 28 Years in Prison After Pleading No Contest to Manslaughter
Suge Knight is going to prison.
Suge Knight has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter from a 2015 incident.
The former Death Row Records CEO was charged with murder after he used his vehicle to run over two men at a Los Angeles restaurant parking lot in January of 2015.
The confrontation was captured on surveillance video near the set of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
According to a report in local Los Angeles news station KABC, prosecutors say Knight proceeded to follow the two men to a nearby burger restaurant, where he ran over them with his pickup truck. One of the men, Terry Carter, died from his injuries. The other man, Cle Sloan, suffered injuries to his head and foot. Knight reportedly fled the scene of the incident before authorities arrived.
Knight, 53, had been facing the possibility of life in prison. He took the plea deal days before his trial was scheduled to begin.
According to a report in Consequence of Sound, he was also facing a second-degree robbery charge for a 2014 incident in which he and comedian Katt Williams were accused of stealing a paparazzi’s camera. Last year, Knight was indicted on charges of “threatening death or bodily injury” against Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray.
