Ice Cube And Charlie Day Prepare To Square Up In 'Fist Fight' Trailer
The film centers around a pair of high school teachers. When Ron Strickland (Ice Cube) suspects Andy Campbell (Charlie Day) of trying to get him fired, he challenges him to a fair one outside after the last day of school.
Students learn of the challenge and spread the word on social media - and if the music festival-sized crowd outside of the school in the trailer is any indication, the hashtag goes viral.
Aside from insensitively mentioning the tragic 2Pac vs. Biggie beef in the same lane as iconic rivalries like Ali vs. Frazier and Batman vs. Superman, the trailer looks promising. Cube seems like a hilarious psycho teacher, while Day is scrambling to get ready for the fight of his life.
The film, directed by Richie Keen (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) is scheduled to hit theaters on February 17, 2017.
Fist Fight continues a steady stream of movie roles for Ice Cube: he's appeared in five films just within the past two years, including Ride Along and Ride Along 2 with Kevin Hart, 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum, the animated film The Book of Life, and the fourth film in his Barbershop franchise. It also appears to be another win for Day, who is mostly known for his roles in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Horrible Bosses.
The film also features Tracy Morgan, in his first movie role since a nearly fatal car crash in 2014. The crash took the life of friend and comedian Jimmy Mack, and left Morgan hospitalized for surgery and rehab for more than a month afterward. Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Jillian Bell (Workaholics), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), and JoAnna Garcia Swisher (The Mindy Project) also appear in the film.
