Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj Bring the Energy On “Princess Diana” Remix
Ice Spice joins forces with her idol Nicki Minaj on the “Princess Diana” remix one month after being titled the “People’s Princess.”
Alongside Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj issues a reminder that there’s no coming for the crown. On Friday (April 14), the New York natives dropped the “Princess Diana” remix, marking their first collaboration and Spice’s latest single after “Boy’s a liar, Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress. Minaj and Spice are now reportedly in a partnership with the former’s record label Heavy On It.
Minaj energetically spits over the RIOTUSA-produced cut, its original version featured on Spice’s debut EP Like…?.
“She the princess, so fuck who you lames is?/Of course, I be pushin' they buttons/I hold the control like the gamers,” Minaj raps in her verse, allegedly pointing to Latto.
Last month, Minaj dubbed Spice the “People’s Princess,” titled after the Bronx rapper’s cover spread in Dazed. Spice, legal name Isis Gaston, recently spoke to Paper Magazine about artists mimicking her sound.
“I don't know if I fit in. I think that's what makes me so different,” Spice told Paper. “I feel like it's a new lane that I've started, and I'm starting to hear a lot of other artists sound like they belong in my lane now.”
The “Princess Diana” remix marks Minaj’s latest single since “Red Ruby da Sleeze” and YoungBoy Never Broke Again collaboration “WTF.” Earlier this week, the Queens rapper was announced as lead voice actor on the forthcoming animated seriesLady Danger co-produced by 50 Cent.
Per Deadline, Lady Danger takes place in 2075 and follows an “agent who is left for dead by her team after discovering a dangerous secret, only to be resurrected as Lady Danger, an Afrofuturistic ass-kicking Agent of B.O.O.T.I. (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention).”
