MF DOOM Makes a Very Brief Appearance on IDK's New Posse Cut "Red"
IDK's new posse cut features a new, really short verse from MF DOOM.
Just hours before releasing his new album, USEE4YOURSELF, IDK has dropped one of the most anticipated songs from the project — "Red."
The song has a lot going on. It was produced by Illingsworth and IDK and features a sample of Big Tymers’ "Still Fly." The song is also a posse cut, featuring verses from Westside Gunn, Jay Electronica, and MF DOOM.
So here's the thing about MF DOOM's appearance. This isn't a verse. This is basically like two bars. On the track, DOOM raps:
"Damn, showboatin', gettin' greedierDoin' shows for feds on social media, Wikipedia"
That's it. That's the verse. Look, we are grateful for any new DOOM that we could get, but, man, do we wish he had a full verse on the song.
In the Youtube comments, IDK — one of the best rappers coming from the DMV — revealed that he got DOOM's vocals cleared in September, just a month before he passed on Halloween. (The world wouldn't find out he died until New Years Eve.) We should add that Jay Electronica closes the song out with an excellent verse that makes up for DOOM's brief appearance.
This isn't the first time IDK and DOOM linked on a song. In 2017, IDK got DOOM to appear on another posse cut, "Pizza Shop," which features Yung Gleesh and Del The Funky Homosapien.
