Illa J Cools Out On His New Drop "All Good Pt. 2" ft. Moka Only & Ivan Ave
Illa J seems hell-bent on driving our anticipations to the boiling point as he closes in on the Oct 2nd release date of his S/T LP. The Detroit-bred vocalist (and brother of the late, great producer J Dilla) has shared another track off the record, the XXXXXX "All Good Pt. 2," which draws upon the featured talents of the prolific Vancouver underground MC Moka Only and Oslo's Ivan Ave. Over a beat produced by Canadian duo Potatohead People that slices deep with its crisp-edged snares, Illa and his companions contemplate conflict resolution and what it takes to put hard times and beef behind you. It's "All Good," they stress, and with a beat like how this, how things possibly be to the contrary?
S/T will be released on Bastard Jazz, and from what we've already heard on cuts like "Universe" and the touching siblings' anthem "Never Left," it's going to be one for the heartfelt, as well as the hip-hop heads, packing beats and concepts that remind us that head-knocking beats can come in a package quite tender. Potatohead People produced the entire album, and are clearly just as eager as Illa J to prove that they've been working to elevate their craft.
