In Season 3 of 'Atlanta', Earn & Paper Boi Embark on a Surreal European Tour
The twisted trailer for season three of Atlanta arrived on Christmas Day, ahead of its March 24th premiere.
After a three-year hiatus, the Atlanta crew is finally back. And they are headed to Europe. Earn, Paper Boi, Darius and Van are in tote as the new trailer follows a brief teaser that debuted on mysterious "nite-site" Gilga on Halloween. With season three of Atlanta aptly themed 'Visitors', the four experience a wild culture clash.
In tandem with the trailer, FX Networks offered a brief synopsis of the new season in a press statement:
“Taking place almost entirely in Europe, Season 3 finds Earn (Donald Glover), Alfred / Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour, as the group navigates their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.”
While the cast hasn't given additional details of the new season, Glover teased that seasons three and four–which is currently in production–"are going to be some of the best television ever made." The Atlanta trailer provides a glimpse into cultural differences as Black Americans traveling to Europe a lá episode "Helen" from season two.
The upcoming season will run for a full 10 episodes starting March 24th, with each episode available to stream on Hulu the day after its initial broadcast premiere on FX. As fans await season three, Glover's 2016 album Awaken, My Love! celebrates its fifth anniversary this month, which released just months after Atlanta premiered in 2016.
