A 'Men in Black' Spinoff is Coming Soon, Will Smith Will Not Be Involved
This year is the 20-year anniversary of one of the great sci-fi comedies of all time: the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones-lead Men in Black.
And now it looks like the franchise still lives.

According to Deadline, a new Men in Black movie is being fast-tracked for a 2019 release. This movie won't be a sequel, but a spin-off, and, sadly, it won't feature Will Smith, the person who put the franchise on his back.
The movie is looking to be released on May 17, 2019 and will feature a script from Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, writers who worked on Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight.

This is an interesting development because for a long time there was a rumor that studio executives were working on a mashup movie with 21 Jump Street. It seems like that has been put on the backburner.
Walter F. Parkes, one of the producers on the upcoming movie, spoke about his excitement for the project:
“It’s so rare to get to the end of the script and know you’re holding a movie in your hands, but Art and Matt have written a spinoff that somehow is true to the core of the MiB world and yet expands the franchise to a fresh new place.”
