“Issa Rae and Childish Gambino were the dream duo for the fourth annual Diamond Ball,” Rihanna said a statement. “We are honored and grateful to have them help us celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation this year.”
Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans will be honored with the Diamond Ball Award for humanitarian work. Last year’s gala saw Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris perform, with Dave Chappelle as host, and Barack Obama giving a speech via video. An auction of items from Rihanna, Jay-Z, and others raised more than $840,000.
Rihanna launched the event in 2014 to benefit her Clara Lionel Foundation, named after her grandparents. CFL is a nonprofit that aims to support impoverished communities around the world by funding education, health, and emergency response programs.
The 2018 Diamond Ball will take place on Sept. 13 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
