It’s Gametime in the Official ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ Trailer
The 'White Men Can't Jump' reboot stars Jack Harlow, Sinqua Walls, Vince Staples, the late Lance Reddick, and more.
Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls take it to the court in Hulu’s White Men Can’t Jumpreboot. An official trailer for the Calmatic-directed film has debuted, with additional cast members including Teyana Taylor, Vince Staples, Laura Harrier, the late Lance Reddick, and more.
Like the original version of the film that co-starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, the protagonists, Kamal (Walls) and Jeremy (Harlow) are conflicted between playing streetball and making enough money to support their respective families.
“White Men Can’t Jump is a modern retelling of the iconic 1992 film that celebrates the streetball hustling culture of Los Angeles,” reads the synopsis.
It continues, “Sinqua Walls stars as Kamal, once a promising player who derailed his future in the sport, and multi-platinum rap superstar Jack Harlow makes his movie debut as Jeremy, a former star of the game whose injuries stalled his own career. Juggling tenuous relationships, financial pressures, and serious internal struggles, the two ballers—opposites who are seemingly miles apart — find they might have more in common than they imagined possible.”
White Men Can’t Jump is the second film from Calmatic, who released his inaugural film House Partyearlier this year. In an interview with Esquire in January, Calmatic predicted that Harlow would eventually shorten his rap career to become an actor full-time.
“I mean, I'm sure he is not going to give up rap, but he's definitely going to be a Mark Wahlberg — where I think people are going to know him more for acting than his music,” Calmatic said. “There's no reason why he shouldn't be in two movies a year. He's that great. And so I'm happy that he got his feet wet with White Men Can't Jump so I can take a little responsibility for that.”
White Men Can’t Jump comes to Hulu on May 19.
