Festival organizers announced the termination of the event on Twitter and Instagram late Friday night. "Although we originally hoped it would be possible to bring you the festival this August, the ongoing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 pandemic has made this timeline no longer possible," reads a statement. Organizers add, "the safety of our fans, artists, and staff is always our top priority, and nothing will ever take precedence over your well-being."

Initially slated to take place on April 6th at Raleigh's Dorothea Dix Park, the festival was already pushed back to August 29th before being canceled outright. Organizers insist it will return in 2021 and are offering full refunds to all current ticketholders.
In 2018, the inaugural Dreamville Festival was postponed in the wake of Hurricane Florence. It resumed the following year with performances from SZA, 21 Savage, Teyana Taylor, J. Cole, and others.
