Janelle Monae & Jidenna Lead Philadelphia March Against Police Brutality
Janelle Monae and fellow Wonderland artist Jidenna were spotted at a march against police brutality in Philadelphia Wednesday. According to a series of tweets posted by Philly Student Union, both Monae and Jidenna played leadership roles in the demonstration, leading chants and carrying signs near the front of the assembled group while calling for an end to police brutality and injustice against persons of color across the nation.
In a video shot from the scene, Monae calls for protesters to "say his name and say her name," referring most likely to Sandra Bland and Freddie Gray, both victims of violent police aggression in the last year and two figures that have become rallying points for the Black Lives Matter movement.
