Jay-Z Talks The Great Gatsby Soundtrack
May 02, 2013
Jay-Z sat with BlackTree.TV to discuss his job as executive producer of The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which drops May 7th. He was inspired to dive into the project while working on "No Church In The Wild", from his Watch The Throne LP with Kanye West - a conversation about the art of collaboration served as the initial seed of the venture. So far the soundtrack seems most adept at breaking with convention, as the songs borrow from a bottomless pit of genre, era and influence to compose the greater body of work for the film. Jay-Z says his approach to the project revolved around the concept of creating timeless music. Check the rest of the interview below. Purchase The Great Gatsby soundtrack via iTunes.
