JAY-Z to Perform At Louis Vuitton Show In Paris
A “JAY-Z Celebration Concert” will be held at Louis Vuitton Foundation’s Auditorium on Friday, commemorating the legacies of visual artists Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
One month after performing at the 2023 Grammys, JAY-Z is scheduled for an upcoming Louis Vuitton benefit concert in Paris. On Friday (April 14), the Roc Nation founder was announced as headliner for an event titled “JAY-Z Celebration Concert,” which will be held at Louis Vuitton Foundation’s Auditorium. Sponsoring the event is Tiffany & Co., who featured Hov and Beyoncé in their 2021 “About Love” campaign.
“To coincide with the Basquiat x Warhol. Painting Four Hands exhibition, JAY-Z will give a celebratory concert to pay tribute to Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, on Friday 14 April 2023 at 9 p.m., in the Fondation's Auditorium,” a statement for the event reads.
In a pre-Grammys interview with Tidal in March, Hov shared why he opted to perform “God Did” alongside DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, John Legend, and Fridayy at the awards ceremony.
“I thought about it, I was in my head and I just broke down and said, ‘You know, it’s a four-minute verse.’ Again, for the culture, for Hip Hop, we got to do that,” he said. “This ain’t your traditional song. … It’s not your traditional structure of what you think a song that would be nominated for Song of the Year would sound like. It’s not what you expect. And for the culture and for Hip Hop, we got to do that.”
He added, “We owe that. This thing that changed our lives. We got to do that. A four-minute verse performed at the Grammys. We owe it to the culture, and it ain’t even a burden. It’s a blessing. It’s easy and fun.”
Prior to the Grammys, the Brooklyn native has not performed live since the 2018 On the Run II Tour with Beyoncé.
Tickets for the Paris event are available now for roughly $175 (€140) each.
